Happy Teacher Revolution, Week 8

Yikes. . . this is the last week of our book study and my first week back at school! (Students start on Monday) Everything we've been reading about in Happy Teacher Revolution has put me in the right frame of mind to start the new school year. Plus I'm so excited to take part on the panel of educators and with Danna Thomas (in person!) on Saturday, August 24th. I hope you will join us, even if you have not finished the book. There will be great discussion and connection! (My daughter says Village Well is one of her favorite bookstores!) Register for this free event HERE.

You can review or catch up on previous weeks' reading here:
Some of you may feel overwhelmed with summer ending and school beginning. Or is that just me? I am so grateful for my (retired) teacher tribe, who volunteered to help set up my classroom. Too often, we feel we need to do everything ourselves. Part of self-care is accepting offered help!
Part VI: Reflecting/Integrating 3 has several video experiences to activate your senses. There's a guided meditation, somatic embodiment experience, breathing experience and scent experience. Take time to watch and participate with these unique videos.   I've been loving listening to the Happy Teacher Revolution playlist on Spotify. Music can be so uplifting for the soul! Some songs include: ABC, Don't Worry Be Happy, The Show Goes On, and Staying Alive. So much fun! (plus I actually know the lyrics to sing aloud; LOL) There's even a scrumptious recipe for Danna Banana Dessert Surprise. As Thomas states, "Self-care for me involves dessert." Amen to that!
Life is "brutaful": brutal and beautiful
Life is filled with both gut-wrenching and breathtaking moments. Self-care and well-being are an ongoing journey. Teaching is heavy lifting, yet there are so many joy-filled nuggets.  Have a Beautiful, Terrible Day: Daily Meditations for the Ups, Downs & In-Betweens  by Kate Bowler is filled with wonderful bite-size reflections and action-oriented steps to help you get through the day, be it good, bad, or totally mediocre. This is the perfect companion read to Happy Teacher Revolution! It's the type of book to pick up when you have a few minutes and want to feel seen and understood.
What are you already doing or what will you plan to do to fill your soul? Remember self-care is not a one-time fix; it is an ongoing process. You are worth it!
Register for this free event HERE.  I hope to see you there!
