Monday Made It is Back!

Now that it's summer, Tara at 4th Grade Frolics is hosting her weekly linky party: Monday Made It! I'm definitely not as creative or crafty as some of my bloggy buddies, but here goes:
Room parent & aide gifts: I got lucky when wandering through Dollar Tree & found these adorable mason jars with a hole drilled in the lid with a straw and chalkboard label stickers already on them! I used a silver Sharpie to write their name & filled the jars with Starbucks Via packets. I finished it off by tying a bow with raffia. Voila! The perfect summer thank you gift!
My next Made It was not really made by me, but by my Girl Scout troop. I'm so proud of them for wanting to beautify our school by making a drought-resistant garden in an old, shabby planter box, heavily outgrown with weeds. (We're in Southern California, where we're in a major drought!!) They worked hard for the last month: writing letters for in-kind donations, weeding the planter box, sanding, then staining the box. Lastly, they planted an assortment of drought-resistant succulent plants! It's a beautiful, peaceful area of our school for all students to enjoy and they earned their Bronze Award as a result! (The Bronze Award is the highest honor given to Girl Scout Juniors.)
I'm super excited about my last Made It! I am never without my camera in hand & LOVE taking pictures (my daughters' lives are very well documented! Lol). Luckily, my hubby lives for road trips, especially around California and National Parks. I've taken hundreds of pictures, but other than being in our family scrapbooks, I wanted another way to use them. Planning for next school year already, I've compiled 9 pictures of each of the California regions (coast, Central Valley, desert, and mountains) into a photo file. They are full-size photos, along with a brief facts page on each region.  This photo file is exactly what I need to show my students when I 'm teaching California geography! You can find it in my TpT store! There are more California history photo files in the works, so stay tuned!
