Loved That Lesson: STEAM Lesson!

Time to link up with Meg at The Teacher Studio to share low-prep, tried & true lessons! We are finishing up a huge integrated unit right now (more details in a blog post to follow), which incorporates several STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Art Math) activities. We are using the engineering design cycle to continuously improve!
This lesson is terrific not only for engineering, but also to develop teamwork and synergy! The task was to build a structure 18 inches or taller out of index cards in 20 minutes . It needed to support a stuffed Scooby Doo for at least 15 seconds.
The most helpful part of the design cycle was to analyze/revise! After seeing what did NOT work, teams regrouped and tried new designs!
It was awesome to watch the kids succeed and inspire each other!
