Currently April 2015

Happy April! Can you believe we're heading into the last couple months of school!? How did that happen?! Linking up today with Farley over at Oh Boy Fourth Grade.
Listening:One of my all-time favorite inspirational speakers: I'm listening to a CD (I know, I know. . . well I used to have the cassette tape of this!!) of 1986 Teacher of the Year, Guy Doud. In his Focus on the Family talk, he shares how teachers are Molders of Dreams (also the title of his book) and how he lives out his faith as a public school teacher. Definitely read the book and listen to his talk!! It'll make you laugh, cry, and feel proud to be a teacher!

Loving: The longer days! I always feel more energetic when it stays light longer. My youngest daughter tries to get her homework finished quickly so we can then spend time outside: bike riding, roller skating or jumping on her trampoline after school. We love eating dinner outside also!

Thinking: About all that I need to do once I get back to school! I feel like the gears in my brain are always spinning & I end up thinking about school non-stop during my break. Don't you hate that?! Our Young Authors' Fair is coming up; my kids have to write their original books. Open House is coming up. . . what to display? Testing is around the corner. . .are my kids ready? Rehearsing for a class play. . . how to fit this in? All good things, but they take up space in my crowded brain!

Wanting: The elusive TIME!! Need I say more?

Needing: To deep-clean my house. Spring cleaning always feels SO good, once it's done. It's the motivating myself to actually do it that's hard! Luckily, having guests over for Easter is good motivation!

EGGS-plain your name: The name of my blog, “Tried and True Teaching Tools” came from the many years I’ve taught children, teaching credential candidates and worked with teachers. I’ve been told numerous times, “You should sell/publish your materials.” Everything I share with you has been tested and used successfully over time (tried & true!) with my students.

Head on over to Farley's blog to check what other teachers are up to!

  1. I'm right there with you in appreciating these longer days! I feel like everything is just happier when the sun is shining. It's been so nice to be able to go for a walk after dinner and watch the sunset!

  2. More time! It's that time of year when everything feels like it's coming at you at once. Good luck (at least we have those longer days, right??)!

  3. Hi Kathie! How sweet of you to leave a comment on my blog! WOW... You posted Currently and Favorite Things in ONE day?! That's more than I posted in all of March! :) Like you, I have an appreciation of (and a desire for more) time. Teachers are always going a million miles an hour. Our brains never get a chance to rest. I hope that you find a few spare moments to relax a bit. Your comment on enjoying the longer days--and your list of fun things you do with your daughter--left me smiling. What a great way to spend TIME!

    1. 2 blog posts are a result from sitting 11 hours in my car while my hubby drove us to Arizona (& then another 11 hours home) during Spring Break!! Well. . . I drafted the posts while my laptop battery lasted! Not to mention I read 2 books, too! I'm feeling quite pleased with myself; LOL!! Happy April to you, Kim!

  4. I couldn't agree more with you about needing more time! I always love when it stays lighter longer because I get more accomplished and feel more energized! I'm hoping to deep clean my house and cross things off my to-do list during spring break, but I already can tell that I have way more hours sleeping and on the couch in my future. I love your blog name and how it came to be. I hope you enjoy the rest of your week!
